Cyanea capillata is one of the largest species of jellyfish. Its body’s diameter can be up to two meters. Its tentacles can reach more than thirty meters. Body color can range from deep red to reddish-purple, with younger individuals having a yellowish-brown hue.
In this piece I wanted to develop a simple concept – pulsation, into a complex device – the orchestra. I contrapose to approches of pulsation : a clockwork percussive impact, rhythmically precise and automatically repeated, and an organic contraction, which on a different scale is a process. Hearth is the organ of pulsation. The jellyfish is a hearth-being: its existence consiste on contracting and releasing itself.
